I am a Cruiser in Toledo Ohio. We did not have High priced Trailer Queens. It was our cars we drove to work & school. Or Borrowed Parents car or as we did one nite, In a Church Bus full of our Teenage Church Group. We would go to Woodville Road, Rt. 51 To cruise from McDonald's to Big Boy & beyond way back in the early 70's. We got chased out of Parking lots were we were told that we were littering & loitering or make minimum purchases & were searched for drugs by The Oregon & Northwood Police. Eventually they ran us off with threats of arrest & harassment by City officials. Now Oregon is trying to reestablish a Cruise with Cruizin Zeke. But they only allow Parking in a parking lot & a Controlled Cruise for entrants. Not general public, to Pearson Park & back. The were unsuccessful in blocking the building of a Sonic Restaurant on Navarre Ave. Rt.2. Because the Mayor of Oregon said it would attract undesirable element to Her City! So if U want to winne & complain about a Name? Grow up Be happy. For 1 week one night a year We can cruise on Woodward Ave. Who cares who is paying the bill etc. YOU still have a Cruise. It was never about Sponsers it was about revisiting a time when it was Fun to be a Driving a car & see your friends old & new.

Todd thank you for posting this... we all love cruising and understand at the end of the day, it's still about the cars. All we want is the cruise to be about the cars, not politics. While I have owned this domain for a long time, I am somewhat new to the cruise scene here in our area. I lived upnorth from 93' - 2001' and came and did one cruise with my dad in 98'. One of the greatest times of my life. When I first got involved all I wanted to do was tell people about shows, and promote the small automotive shops and vendors.... I did everything with a degree of innocence you could say. Then I found out about "the committee". I was told about them, but ignored them. People kept telling me just continue what you are doing... don't talk to them, and I think they were right.

Just like your the officials in your area who try to kill your cruise spots these non-car guys try to take things over, then act like it was their idea in the first place. These people try to shut down anyone who tries to promote the cruise or mention the phrase "woodward dream cruise" without getting their permission first. It's rediculous. It's about the cars not a trademark. Ask anyone who has dealt with them... they are well... I won't say, you get the idea.

I just want the little guys to be recognized in this whole thing and that was my goal on the site. To give the cruisers a voice, something they don't have with the "official" group. If there is something wrong with this.... oh well.

I am just a average Guy. I did not have a lot of Money to spend on my cars but I had some nice ones. I don't think anyone has the right to take a copyrighted Name & use it to their benefit. I have been through 2 Divorces & know all too well that some one or a group of people can ruin the Good Name. I just would like to have the fun We had as teenagers in the 70's gas embargo. A lot of us had Land Yachts that at the time were associated with Drug Dealers. But my 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark 5 blew off several of the Novas & Camaros in Drag Races. I will not mention my sisters, She was in the Army in Germany, 1968 Barracuda Fastback that had a Slant 6 won many races too. So I hope there will still be a Cruise. I am going to the Downriver cruise next weekend. It was small but it was still a lot of Fun looking at & cruising with all the Vehicles that were there.
