Opinion: Could a Big Car Show Work at the Silverdome?

Over the past year+ I have wanted to put on a car show of my own, but I wanted it to be different then the other shows that you see everyday in the Summer. I want it be a hybrid show of mixing swap, car show, with entertainment. Entertainment would include live automotive contests, live bands, etc.

The Question: Would anyone show up to a show like this at the Silverdome? I recently spotted a "for rent" number on the silverdome sign and thought what a cool idea...

Great Idea!!! Long overdue!!!! Just look at the Pomona Swap Meet in California (Which I have attended). Pomona has cars for sale and new and used parts vendors and is huge!!!! DO IT!!!!!!

Great idea. I would definitely bring my truck. I am not so sure you would have the room for a swap meet and car show. Swap meets kinda bring down the quality of a first class car show. How about vendor spaces for car related products? Can you get me a suite?

I love the venue. But the location I think would hinder spectators. I live in South Westland / Wayne area and it takes me over an hour to get to the Silverdome. Pretty much the same reason the sports teams pulled out.

I think you would have to have some pretty special cars, an auction and or entertainment in order to make it worth the trip from this end of town.

You could do the Car Show inside and parts vendors and car corral could be outside in the huge parking lot.

I say YES !!!! " GO FOR IT " If they could have Concerts, Monster Trucks, Etc., Why not a Car Show & Swap....It would put the Stadium to Great use !! I live in St. Helen, MI. & have Family Down State, & I would Drive 160+ Miles & 2 1/2 Hours for a Car Show & Swap. It would be Great Family Time Too !!!!

I think this is a Awesome Idea, I would get alot of people from the East Side to Attend this event!! Keep us posted on if this actually comes about!!! If it is advertised enough you could have one heck of a Turnout!! I would be willing to pass out flyers in my area at the Shows I attend!!!

You might want to check out the rental fee before you get to many people excited, I can't imagine it be to cost effective. Would this inside and out because of the number of cars or would it be a limited number of cars?

Thanks Jim for pointing this out: (the cost)
I have contacted them to find out the cost to do something there, but waiting to hear something from them. I had already had a deal with Rock Financial in Novi, it was to be after Autorama this year in April. I cancelled after the poor showing at the cruise this last year. This time I want the opinion of my community before I do anything. The space at the Silverdome allow us to get very creative. So I thought I would check into it, but ask what interest their is first. Thx.

I think it could be a good idea, great climate, and easy to get in and out of and a lot of people would like to do something in the gloomy months

that would be a terrific idea. you could even class the cars as to what they are i.e. pro street, mustangs, corvettes, etc. plus you would have the advantage of a great climate all the time, i.e. NO RAIN! the cost would have to be held down though as most people would think it would be a quite expensive entrance fee. i always thought it would be great to have a hands on demo during the show such as adding a cam, headers, intakes, etc. and it would be a perfect climate for that as well. detroit being so close i would have to think somebody like roush woulkd love to do demos as well as display their products, or how about livernois performance? thanks and keep me posted
